Providing DBT and DBT-PE to groups and individuals, as well as supervision, consultation, and training opportunities for mental health professionals

Our Story

In 2017, three friends and coworkers (Megan Dunston, Michelle Metzler, and Sarah Bradley) left their jobs at an intensive outpatient program to start Meridian DBT. They were motivated to create a practice that is both client-centered and therapist-centered. Their values around providing ethical and professional services, both clinically and administratively, guide their work with clients. In addition, they saw therapists around them burning out rapidly and struggling with work satisfaction. The clinicians at Meridian hold core principles of healthy boundaries and life/work balance, to ensure clinicians and counselor trainees can spend their careers as therapists.

Today, Meridian DBT is owned and run by Megan Dunston, Michelle Metzler, and Kristina Syverson, all practicing psychotherapists licensed in Vermont. We have been delighted to have many practitioners collaborate and join our practice over the years, including graduate level clinical interns, pre-licensed professionals, and medication providers. A man who took great pride in his lawn found himself with a large crop of dandelions.

He tried every method he knew to get rid of them. Still they plagued him.

Finally he wrote the Department of Agriculture. He enumerated all the things he had tried and closed his letter with the question, "What shall I do now?"

In due course the reply came, "We suggest you learn to love them."
